 What are the raw materials for carbon material production?

In normal carbon materials production, such as electrode paste, Graphite Electrode, carbon block, the commonly used raw materials can be divided into the following categories:

1. Solid carbon raw materials. Such as petroleum coke, pitch coke, metallurgical coke, anthracite, natural graphite, artificial graphite, carbon black and reclaimed materials(green graphite scrap, baked scrap, graphite scrap) and so on. Among them, the petroleum coke and pitch coke can be divided into normal coke and Needle Coke. Needle Coke is the essential materials for producing UHP Graphite Electrode 500-700mm diameter.

2. Non-carbonaceous solid material. It mainly has the Metal powder for electrician carbon production, Plant materials for activated carbon production, Silicon carbide and metal silicon for microporous carbon bricks.

3. Binder and impregnant. Such as coal tar pitch, petroleum asphalt, synthetic resin, lubricant and low melting point alloy.

4. Property-modifying agent. Such as coal tar, anthracene oil, iron oxide and stearic acid and so on.

Plus, during the carbon materials production, it will need some auxiliary materials(Heat preservation material, filling materials and resistance materials). such as metallurgical coke, petroleum coke, carbon black, silica sand and river sand.
